Five Little Ducks

U.S.A.

HISTORY AND SONG NOTES

Five Little Ducks is an American folksong. In addition to the text in the score above, you count down the number of ducks until there are no more remaining, and then in the last verse, they all come back!

Verse 2: Four little ducks went out one day, over the hills and far away, the mother duck said “quack, quack, quack, quack!” But only three little ducks came back.

Verse 3: Three little ducks went out one day, over the hills and far away, the mother duck said “quack, quack, quack, quack!” But only two little ducks came back.

Verse 4: Two little ducks went out one day, over the hills and far away, the mother duck said “quack, quack, quack, quack!” But only one little duck came back.

Verse 5: One little duck went out one day, over the hills and far away, the mother duck said “quack, quack, quack, quack!” But none of the five little ducks came back.

Verse 6: (a little slower, more somber until the happy ending!) Sad mother duck went out one day, over the hills and far away, the mother duck said “quack, quack, quack, quack!” …. And all of the five little ducks came back!
