SONG NOTES

‘Liza Jane is an American folksong. Also known as “Li’l Liza Jane,” this song was first published in 1916, but there is evidence that it is much older. Many versions of this song have been recorded, including notable jazz versions by Wynton Marsalis and Nina Simone. Allison Krauss & Union Station won the Grammy Award for Best Country Instrumental Performance for their version in 1998.
